Installing a barrier over active termites or without identifying existing damage can cause termites to relocate and may make management more difficult. We carry out an inspection before recommending or installing any management system.

Chemical Soil Treatments
A chemical soil treatment involves the application of a registered termiticide to the soil around and beneath a structure to create a treated zone. Termites passing through the treated zone are affected by the product, disrupting colony activity. Our primary product is Termidor (fipronil). Mitchell Pryce is an approved Termidor applicator. Other registered products are used where the property or situation warrants a different approach.

- How long does a chemical soil treatment last?
- The effective life of a chemical soil treatment depends on the product used, soil type, environmental conditions and other factors. The product label and manufacturer documentation specify the expected effective life for the product applied. Re-treatment is required at the end of the product's effective life to maintain protection. We will advise on the expected effective life of the product used at your property.
- Can a chemical barrier be installed if there are active termites in the property?
- The presence of active termites in a property affects the approach to termite management. In some cases, active termites need to be addressed before a barrier is installed. Disturbing active workings can cause termites to relocate and make management more difficult. We will assess the situation and advise on the appropriate approach following a thorough inspection.

Monitoring and baiting systems require an ongoing service program to be effective. The servicing schedule is determined by the system and site conditions.
- Do I still need annual termite inspections if I have a treatment in place?
- Yes. Annual termite inspections are generally recommended regardless of whether a management system is in place. A termite management system reduces risk but does not eliminate it. Treatments can be affected by soil disturbance, access limitations or the passage of time. Regular inspections allow early detection of any activity and provide an ongoing documented record of the property's condition. Concealed areas cannot be assessed by inspection alone, so limitations will always be noted in the report.
